Demand fair teaching practices in our CIS class

The Issue

I am writing this petition in distress regarding the conduct of our CIS class professor, whose teaching methods are affecting not just my grades and GPA but also those of many students. Our professor often assigns assignments without providing ample time or explanation needed to complete them effectively. This pattern of behavior has left many of us struggling to keep up with the coursework.

On several occasions, students have expressed their concerns about the unclear guidance and the professor’s lack of response to emails. We need a professor who engages actively with students, communicating effectively and ensuring that course material is understood by everyone in the class. Yet, instead of providing us with the support we need, the professor gives multiple assignments during class without proper explanation and does not make accommodations when students face genuine academic challenges.

The issue is not an isolated complaint but a recurring problem that affects the majority of students in the class. I, along with my classmates, implore the university administration to take notice and investigate this matter thoroughly. We believe taking concrete steps such as introducing regular office hours for student questions, providing clearer course materials, and ensuring timely communication with students, could alleviate the struggles we are currently facing.

It is crucial for our academic success and mental well-being that we learn in an environment that is supportive and educational rather than stressful and detrimental. Therefore, I urge all of you to sign this petition to advocate for a change in teaching practices within our CIS class. Together, we can urge the administration to implement the necessary changes that will benefit the student body immensely. Please add your signature today to make our voices heard.
