The Issue

Being an employee of the National Health Mission (NHM), I have firsthand experience of the stark disparity that exists between contractual and regular employees. Despite performing the same duties—and often going beyond expectations by working extra hours, including nights—I, along with many others, am subjected to wages significantly lower than our regular counterparts. This inequality isn't merely a question of monetary discrepancy but a matter of fair treatment and professional dignity.

The NHM initiative, crucial for delivering essential health services across the nation, relies heavily on the commitment and hard work of its employees. However, the unjust compensation framework under which contractual workers like me operate undermines both morale and motivation, eventually affecting the quality of services rendered to the public.

Statistics show that over thousands of NHM workers operate under such precarious conditions. These employees, forming a backbone of the public health delivery system, deserve recognition and regularization to ensure equitable work conditions. According to recent reports, regular employees earn approximately 30% more than their contractual peers for equivalent workloads. Such disparities impede the efficacy of health initiatives aimed at fostering public welfare.

The solution to this issue lies in implementing a structured employee regularization policy. This entails revising contractual employment terms, aligning them with those applicable to permanent employees. By doing so, NHM can ensure equal pay for equal work, enhance job security, and improve employee morale, thereby enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services.

It is time for the authorities to address this pressing issue by adopting transparent and fair regularization practices. Such a move would not only uphold justice and equality but would also reinforce the commitment and dedication of NHM employees nationwide.

Support this crucial cause to end the disparity and ensure fair regularization for NHM employees. Sign this petition now to demand change and stand with us in our fight for justice.
