Asda, a leading supermarket chain in the UK, is reportedly closing all of its drive-through petrol stations and transitioning to card payments only. This change will result in many station employees losing their jobs. However, instead of offering redundancy packages to these employees as compensation for their job loss, Asda is merely offering them positions within their stores. For many long-serving employees - some with over 35 years of service - this alternative is not suitable or desirable. It's disheartening that while the Issa brothers, who own Asda, enjoy luxuries such as private jets and expensive cars, loyal employees are left without fair options during this transition period. We believe it's only right that those who wish to take redundancy should be allowed to do so with a fair package reflecting their years of dedicated service to the company.
