Petition Description / Story:

For over 15 years, Jotika and Sunny poured their blood, sweat, and tears into building a successful business with 7-Eleven. For more than 10 of those years, they ran a highly profitable, community-loved franchise store. They were dedicated, hard-working franchisees who did everything right.

But recently, 7-Eleven turned their backs on them.

Towards the end of their franchising period, 7-Eleven flatly refused to renew their lease and told them they had to sell the store. Complying with the mandate, Jotika and Sunny put their profitable business on the market. Over the course of 1.5 years, several willing and capable buyers approached them to take over the store.

Shockingly, 7-Eleven rejected every single buyer. They provided no proper reasoning, no transparency, and no alternative solutions. They simply stalled and blocked every attempt Jotika and Sunny made to sell their life's work.

Then came the final blow. When their lease period officially ended, 7-Eleven kicked Jotika and Sunny out of the store they had spent a decade building. They took over a fully operational, highly profitable business and left this hardworking family with absolutely zero compensation. This is not just unfair; it is corporate bullying at its worst. A multi-national corporation is exploiting a loophole to absorb a profitable store for free, while leaving the franchisees who built it with nothing.

This issue has already caught the attention of the media, being covered by ABC News and A Current Affair, highlighting a deeply flawed and predatory system that forces franchisees to sell but blocks the sales from happening.

We are demanding that 7-Eleven Australia:

Acknowledge the unjust treatment of Jotika and Sunny, along with many other familieses who have already faced/ are facing this issue.

Provide them with the immediate, fair financial payout and compensation they deserve for the profitable business that was taken from them.

Commit to transparent, fair practices so no other hardworking franchise family is robbed of their livelihood.

Jotika and Sunny gave 15 years to 7-Eleven. It’s time 7-Eleven gives them what they are owed.

Please sign and share this petition to help us demand fair justice and a fair payout for Jotika and Sunny!
