My daughter is under the care of over 10 specialists at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Each visit to her appointments is overshadowed by the financial burden of parking fees, creating unnecessary stress to our family. This financial strain not only impacts us but countless other families who rely on CHOC for their children’s care. It has become increasingly difficult to afford the $1 charge for every 30 minutes of parking at their new facility.

Families with children who have chronic conditions often find themselves visiting CHOC’s clinics several times a week. The cost of parking has risen, making it a significant financial challenge. Comparatively, nearby children’s hospitals have taken a more family-friendly approach by offering free parking, relieving families of this financial concern.

The rise in parking fees is especially burdensome on families who are already facing overwhelming medical bills. Children and their families deserve adequate support while they're receiving essential medical care, not additional financial burdens. It's crucial to consider the impact these fees have on families already enduring the emotional and financial weight of ongoing medical treatment for their children.

We urge CHOC to consider implementing more reasonable parking solutions, such as discounted or free parking. By doing so, they could align with the practices of other hospitals in the area, which place family care as a priority.
