I am a resident of Woking, Surrey, UK and like many others, I am deeply concerned about the financial mismanagement of our local council. The Woking Council has gone bankrupt due to their own incompetence and now we, the taxpayers, are expected to bail them out with an unfair increase in council tax.

This is not just a local issue; it's a matter of justice. It is unacceptable that we should bear the burden for mistakes we did not make. According to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), council tax bills have risen by over 57% in real terms since they were introduced in 1993-94 while wages have not kept pace with this increase.

We understand that public services need funding but it must be done fairly and responsibly. We demand that any proposed increase in council tax this year be fair and proportionate to our income levels.
