Demand Fair Compensation for Wikipedia Editors, Admins, and Arbitrators

Demand Fair Compensation for Wikipedia Editors, Admins, and Arbitrators
The Issue
I have been editing Wikipedia for years, tirelessly contributing to the wealth of knowledge freely available to all. Despite my efforts and those of countless other volunteers, we are continually asked to donate money. To my shock, it has become clear that none of this funding is directed towards those that truly make the site functional – the volunteer editors.
Wikipedia is a system that sees a monetary influx of hundreds of millions of dollars a year. This colossal sum, however, does not reach the hands of the editors, admins, and arbitrators who devote their time and energy to the website's upkeep. Instead, it ends up with Wikimedia Foundation administrators who distribute it among grant recipients. This glaring discrepancy creates a grossly unfair system feeding off the labor of unpaid individuals contributing invaluable information. Meanwhile, Google reaps profits in billions using this freely available data, exploiting the efforts of these unpaid contributors even further.
Wikipedia editors should unite! Unionize now! Demand appropriate compensation!
It is high time this system is dismantled. Every individual contributing to the database, with their diverse range of expertise and fact-based contributions, deserves fair compensation for their work. It is time for editors, admins, and arbitrators to unionize and fight for fair treatment.
By signing this petition, you join us in taking a stand against this unjust model and demand fair compensation for all contributors to Wikipedia. Support us in making sure the system rewards those who truly make it what it is. Please sign this petition now.
