I am an Uber driver in Dallas, TX and, like many others, I am not receiving fair compensation for my work. Despite performing multi-stop trips and picking up passengers from distant locations, the pay we receive does not bear fair relation to the effort and costs involved, often failing to meet the modest standard of $1 per mile. Maintenance costs for our vehicles, an essential expense for delivering this service, are not compensated by the company.

The stories don’t stop there. Many of my peers have been unfairly suspended or deactivated from the platform without proper investigation into the complaints allegedly lodged against them. This sudden lack of income is detrimental to drivers who depend on Uber for their livelihoods, with reinstatement often taking considerable time.

These problems are not just mine, but are suffered by all drivers who are merely trying to make the livings they rightfully deserve in Dallas. A survey from Rideshare Guy confirms that 50% of drivers are unsatisfied with their pay and more than 20% have experienced wrongful account deactivations (Rideshare Guy, 2020). This unfair treatment not only harms the financial stability of Uber drivers but also damages the quality of service for customers.

Change is needed, and we rely on your support to bring about fair payment and impartial treatment for all Uber drivers. Invest in your drivers and improve the client experience in the process.
