The Issue

In December, we received an AEP power bill amounting to $1073. After making a payment of $760 on December 28th, we were left with a balance of about $313. Less than a month and a half later, the bill showed a shocking outstanding amount of $2709.61! This is not just unreasonable, but also inexplicable.

There is a need for transparency in the power sector, especially regarding price setting. The current pricing by AEP Kentucky Power seems arbitrary and is causing undue financial stress to us and likely many other households. Furthermore, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Kentucky has the 8th lowest retail electricity rates in the U.S. With this in mind, the exceptionally high bill we received from AEP Kentucky Power is contradictory.

For most of us, power is a basic necessity. We should not have to bear exorbitant costs to access this essential service. Therefore, we urge the State Utility Commission and other relevant authorities to investigate these unfair prices by AEP Kentucky Power and push for pricing regulations that safeguard consumer interests. Please sign this petition and support our demand for affordable electricity.
