The issue

Residents of Yarrabilba, Queensland are being inundated with developments that do not address our community's actual needs. Over the past few years, we've seen the creation of 10 gyms, several service stations, and numerous fast-food chains. Meanwhile, what the community truly requires—essential services like chemists, grocery stores, and accessible healthcare facilities—are sorely lacking.

Our rapidly growing community deserves better planning and development that reflects the real needs of its residents. For many families, the lack of a nearby grocery store means longer travel times, which is both inconvenient and costly. The absence of additional chemists is particularly concerning for elderly residents and those with ongoing medical needs, who deserve easy access to medications and health consultations.

Furthermore, the current proliferation of fast-food chains does little to enhance the overall health and wellbeing of our community. Rather than just more gyms, we need preventative healthcare facilities. General practitioners (GPs) are crucial for providing comprehensive healthcare and reducing the burden on emergency care services. Without sufficient GPs, residents often face long wait times, detracting from the quality of healthcare available.

The development of actual shopping centres that contain a thoughtful mix of shops and services would make a significant difference in the quality of life for everyone. Instead of piecemeal development that prioritizes short-term profits, we need long-term planning that supports a thriving, sustainable community.

We call on local government officials, town planners, and developers to engage in meaningful consultation with Yarrabilba residents. Our voices must be heard. It's time to make changes that benefit everyone, not just a select few. Let's work together to create a community that supports the needs and dreams of its people.

Join us in demanding well-balanced infrastructure and essential amenities in Yarrabilba. Sign the petition to show your support and send a clear message: we need thoughtful development that prioritizes the true needs of our community.
