Demand equal social media monetization rights for creators in Mauritius

Demand equal social media monetization rights for creators in Mauritius
The Issue
Many creators in Mauritius spend years building audiences on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, and others, yet we are often excluded from monetization opportunities available in many other countries. This affects artists, musicians, vloggers, gamers, streamers, educators, influencers, and digital entrepreneurs who dedicate countless hours to creating content enjoyed by audiences worldwide.
Mauritius is frequently grouped into broad regional categories that do not accurately reflect our country's development. While Mauritius is geographically part of Africa, it has evolved significantly in terms of technology, internet infrastructure, digital services, education, and economic development. Unfortunately, many international platforms still overlook Mauritius when expanding creator monetization programs.
We are not asking for special treatment—only equal opportunities. Mauritian creators contribute to the success of these platforms just like creators from monetized countries. We have the talent, the audiences, and the technology required to participate in the global creator economy.
This exclusion limits career opportunities, discourages local talent, and prevents many creators from turning their passion into a sustainable source of income. As social media continues to shape the future of work, Mauritius should not be left behind.
We call on Google (YouTube), ByteDance (TikTok), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Amazon (Twitch), and other major social media companies to review their policies and include Mauritius in all available creator monetization programs.
By signing this petition, you are supporting equal opportunities for Mauritian artists, musicians, vloggers, gamers, streamers, educators, influencers, and content creators. Help us ensure that Mauritian creators are recognized, valued, and fairly compensated for their contributions to the global digital community.
Equal content. Equal effort. Equal opportunity for Mauritian creators.
