Being transgender means facing a world where my rights are not seen as equal to others. Every day is a struggle for acceptance, dignity, and fairness. This isn't just my problem, it reflects a systemic issue where LGBTQ individuals like me are denied basic human rights that others take for granted.

Discrimination is still prevalent in our societies today. According to a survey by Stonewall, over half of LGBTQ people reported experiencing discrimination in the workplace in recent years. Studies also show that LGBTQ youth are five times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers. We deserve to walk through life with the same opportunities and safety as everyone else.

In many places, same-sex couples still cannot marry, adopt children, or even visit each other in hospitals as primary family members. Transgender individuals can be denied necessary healthcare and face legal challenges in changing their gender markers. These are everyday rights that heterosexual and cisgender people can easily access, yet they remain elusive for many in the LGBTQ community.

We call upon our legislators to enact comprehensive anti-discrimination laws that protect every LGBTQ person in every aspect of life: employment, education, housing, healthcare, and more. We need clear policies that protect our rights and promote equality.
