Demand Equal Pricing for Plant-Based and Dairy Milks in Cafes and Restaurants

The Issue

As a long-term vegan and conscious consumer, I am deeply concerned about the price disparity between plant-based milks and dairy milk in cafes and restaurants. It is unjust that individuals who choose environmentally friendly, cruelty-free alternatives are penalized with higher prices.

The production of plant-based milks uses significantly less water, land, and emits fewer greenhouse gases compared to dairy milk production. A study published by the University of Oxford found that producing a glass of dairy milk results in almost three times more greenhouse gas emissions than any plant-based milk (Poore & Nemecek, 2018). Yet despite these environmental benefits, consumers are charged more for choosing the sustainable option.

Animal welfare is another crucial issue at stake here. The dairy industry often involves practices that cause unnecessary suffering to animals. By contrast, plant-based milks do not involve animal exploitation or cruelty.

This pricing disparity discourages people from making ethical choices that benefit our planet and its inhabitants. We need to level the playing field by ensuring equal pricing for all types of milks.

We call on all cafes and restaurants to stop charging more for plant-based milks than they do for dairy milk - it's time to reward conscious consumption rather than penalize it! Please sign this petition if you believe in fair pricing based on ethical considerations.

Humans are not baby cows. We should not be drinking milk designed for calves. Calves who have the unfortunate luck to be born male are deemed to be useless so are removed from their mothers and killed.
