Demand Equal Pay and Fair Wages for All Royal Mail Staff

Demand Equal Pay and Fair Wages for All Royal Mail Staff
The Issue
This petition deeply resonates with me on a personal level, as I've witnessed firsthand postmen and postwomen tirelessly performing identical duties, yet being paid disproportionately in comparison to the new and old contracts. It is imperative that we address this unjust pay disparity in Royal Mail, all while ensuring an elevation in the minimum wage to £15 per hour, along with the implementation of achievable tasks.
As we set out to reimagine an inclusive and equitable workplace, we need to understand the stark disparities. Reports suggest that the gender pay gap in the UK is approximately 15.5% (Office for National Statistics, 2020). This represents the dire crooked financial landscape we strive to straighten. There is no justification for the same effort being differently rewarded based on gender or any other unrelated factors.
Moreover, raising the minimum wage to £15 per hour isn't mere indulgence. Research has indicated that higher pay leads to increased productivity, better job performance, and reduced employee turnover (Center for Economic and Policy Research, 2016). It's not just a moral right, it's a smart business move.
Implementing manageable tasks can also reduce work-related stress, increase job satisfaction, and ensure the well-being of the workforce.
We are calling on Royal Mail to take tangible actions: Equalise pay across all staff, raise minimum wages to £15 per hour, and structure more manageable workloads. Please sign this petition and support us in this crucial fight for fair pay and dignified work.
