On Oakgrove Avenue, horror has become a daily reality due to a neighbor's two violent dogs. Not only do these dogs run loose, they have wreaked havoc on the community, mauling multiple victims and even destroying property in their pursuit of violence. Among those attacked was myself and my service animal, Mookie. Invading our home, they tore down my screen door and mauled both of us, causing us significant injury.

What's tragic is the owner's disregard for the safety of their neighbors and the orders of the law. Despite a court order issued over a year ago demanding the dogs be forfeited to the humane society, the owner continues to flout the law, leading to more gruesome incidents. A resident of our community was critically injured and had to be life-flighted to a hospital, resulting in expensive and extensive surgeries. These dogs pose a continuing and significant threat to the safety of our community, especially to our most vulnerable residents – our children.

Inaction on this issue equates to a tacit support of this danger. How many more residents of Oakgrove Avenue need to be attacked, or worse, killed before something is done? Law enforcement and the courts must uphold their responsibility to protect our community. We insist that the court order be enforced, the dogs seized, and the owner held accountable for the injuries and terror they have caused. Enough is enough.
