Demand Early Release for Xavier Jones Post Sentencing 22 years

The Issue

Xavier Jones, a man who has been confined within prison walls for 4 years without conviction, now recently convicted for a non violent crime facing 22 years in prison. Xavier is more than just a statistic in our flawed justice system - he is my husband . He has been waiting patiently for his trial date, enduring harsh conditions that have led to him being stabbed and nearly losing his life. This treatment is not only unjust but also unfair.

Xavier's story isn't unique; it's an echo of countless others who are held in detention centers across the country without being sentenced or charged with any crimes. The Prison Policy Initiative reports that 74% of people held by the U.S. justice system are not convicted (source: Prison Policy Initiative). Yet they suffer from violence and neglect while their lives outside continue to crumble.

Allowing Xavier to have an early release on house arrest would not only ensure his safety but also provide him with an opportunity to better himself and contribute positively to society. He plans on finishing school online, focusing on becoming a model citizen, and effecting change in our community.

His story could serve as a powerful lesson for young men at risk of making wrong decisions in life – showing them the harsh reality of prison life without conviction or sentencing – thereby preventing them from ending up in similar situations.
