Demand Dr. Elda Luna-Najera's Resignation from Tolleson Union High School District 214
The Issue
I am not only a Tolleson, Az resident, I am mother to 5 sons! Sons who attend(ed) Tolleson Union High School District!
I am a witness to the pain caused by women who misuse their power and authority, threatening the innocence of boys and men (our sons, brothers, uncles, fathers etc.) We trust our institutions to protect our children, yet we are witnessing a gross misuse of power right in our diagnostic, educational, and therapeutic high school, Tolleson Union High School District 214. Here, someone who should fight for our children's rights is causing undue harm. I am talking about Dr. Elda Luna-Najera, the current President of the governing board of the district. She has also shown her intention to run for reelection in the 2024 Arizona House of Representatives election. Using her power and influence, she has been involved in sexually harassing the superintendent of my sons school district, Mr. Jeremy Calles.
This is a glaring demonstration of gender bias that we cannot ignore. If it were a man in her place, he would have been rightfully removed from his position. A case of sexual harassment is not confined to Dr. Luna-Najera and the superintendent. It often results in a ripple effect, exerting an immense emotional toll on the victims, their families, and onlookers. We cannot allow such actions to foster a hostile work environment, which could ultimately reflect poorly on the educational atmosphere of our children.
We stand against this misuse of power and demand the forced resignation of Dr. Elda Luna-Najera. This petition calls upon the Tolleson Union High School District 214 and related authorities to acknowledge this misconduct and take decisive action.
