Demand Divestment: End Redding’s Complicity in Genocide

Demand Divestment: End Redding’s Complicity in Genocide
The Issue
Tell Redding City Council: Disclose. Divest. Do the Right Thing.
As Israel continues its military siege on Gaza, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians, starving entire communities, and destroying schools, hospitals, and refugee camps, cities across the U.S. are being forced to reckon with their own complicity. Redding is no exception.
Our public dollars are tied up in investments and contracts with corporations that fund and profit from genocide, occupation, and apartheid. These include weapons manufacturers like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, surveillance firms like Motorola and Palantir, and companies like Caterpillar and Chevron that support the violent displacement of Palestinians. While national governments facilitate these atrocities, our city is not neutral. We must act now.
Inspired by California cities like Alameda, Hayward, and Richmond—who have already begun to divest—we are calling on Redding to take a stand for human rights and join the growing movement of cities across the country demanding justice for Palestine.
We demand the following:
Full Financial Disclosure: Reveal all current and potential city investments, contracts, and partnerships with companies complicit in war, occupation, and apartheid by July 1, 2025.
Immediate Divestment: Begin the process of withdrawing all city investments from corporations that supply weapons, surveillance, logistics, or other support to the Israeli military and occupation. Complete divestment must be achieved no later than January 1, 2026.
Implement a Human Rights Investment Screening: We demand a permanent human rights screening process for all city investments and contracts—created and led by an independent, nonpartisan third party with no financial ties to the city. Companies involved in war crimes, apartheid, or human rights violations must be excluded. The process must be transparent, community-informed, and fully implemented by January 1, 2026.
Pass a Resolution Condemning the Genocide in Gaza: Publicly acknowledge and condemn the ongoing genocide and call for an immediate, permanent ceasefire. Affirm the dignity and humanity of the Palestinian people.
Redding must not remain silent. We demand transparency. We demand accountability. We demand divestment.
Sign this petition to show our city council that the people of Redding will not tolerate supporting and financing genocide.
