Demand Disney to Restore the Original DAS (Disability Access Service) System/Pass

Demand Disney to Restore the Original DAS (Disability Access Service) System/Pass
The Issue
As a person with type 1 diabetes and a sibling to a brother who has autism, I have personally experienced the assistance and accommodations made possible by Disney's previous Disability Access Service (DAS) system. Disney Parks used to be a place of magic and fairy tales, a beacon of joy for families, especially those struggling with disabilities. The magic dimmed when the initiative towards a cost-cutting approach caused immense distress to us and numerous families with disabilities worldwide.
The old DAS system, had provisions in place to cater to visitors with disabilities, allowing us to experience the joy of Disney minus any hassles. It was one of the remaining pleasures we looked forward to; Disney Parks being a place where our disabilities didn't inhibit our experiences. Now, the new “accommodations” create more stress for families with disabilities, instead of actually accommodating them. Most people with disabilities are no longer included in the DAS pass (diabetes being one of them)with only mental disabilities being considered “severe” enough of disabilities to accommodate. Disney’s new DAS system seems to show no concern for simply the wellbeing and health of those with disabilities that are no longer included in the DAS pass, not realizing that most of the previous accommodations provided could be the difference in life or death for some individuals. With the scaling back of past accommodations and more stringent qualifications in the application process, Disney has inadvertently alienated a significant portion of its demographics, putting its corporate saving ahead of their obligations towards a diverse society.
Reverting back to the previous DAS system would help restore Walt Disney World, DisneyLand, and its associated parks to the vision that Walt Disney once shared—creating a space where everyone can enjoy irrespective of their personal challenges—a place where dreams come true.
Let's urge Disney to live up to its reputation and reconsider its decision. Let's fight for the restoration of service with heart. Sign this petition and make your voice heard. Restore the magic for families with disabilities. Every voice counts! Your signature can make a tremendous difference.
