I am from the same town as LCPL Kareem Nikoui, a brave Marine who tragically lost his life in the Kabul Airport Bombing on August 26, 2021. I had the honor of meeting him years ago while he was volunteering at an event and have friends who knew him well. His father, Steve Nikoui, is now facing charges for speaking out about "Abbey Gate","United States Marines" during President Biden's State of the Union address. Not only did Steve lose his son Kareem in that horrific attack, but also his other son Dakota to suicide later on due to the effects of this tragedy.

Steve's voice represents not only his own pain but also that of countless other families affected by this event. His courage to speak out should be applauded rather than penalized. The First Amendment guarantees every American citizen's right to freedom of speech.

Moreover, we must Never Forget the 13 Heroes we lost that day at Kabul Airport Bombing - their sacrifice is a testament to their unwavering commitment towards ensuring our nation's safety.

We urge you to join us in calling for all charges against Steve Nikoui to be dropped immediately. This is not just about one man’s right to free speech; it’s about honoring those who have sacrificed so much for our country and supporting those left behind dealing with unimaginable grief. Others who have been arrested for disrupting meetings face only a $50 fine.
