Demand Denver PD Hold Officers Accountable for Shooting Tear Gas at Man & Pregnant Fiancée

The Issue

Last Saturday (05/31) Denver Police Officers Shot 50-75 plus rounds of pepper balls at Shaiitarrio Brown and his fiancée, Brittany King, 18-weeks pregnant, while they were in the middle of delivering a mobile food order for Door Dash. A viral video shows the man getting out to tell Denver police officers that his girlfriend is pregnant in the car, and the officers continue to keep shooting.

They were NOT a threat, or even attending the protest in Denver during the incident. Additionally, Denver police's use of force guidelines for "less lethal" weapons such as pepper balls explicitly state that officers are prohibited from firing at a pregnant woman if the officer has "prior knowledge of the pregnancy."

Brittany King was hit in the abdomen with multiple rounds, she broke a bone in her hand, and the hospital found her fetus had a high heart rate. King is still suffering from cramps and continues to have difficulty breathing and difficulty eating. Brown was shot in the face and sustained a laceration injury and additional bruises on his body from the incident.

We need police reform NOW, and these officers need to be held accountable. The only action taken on the case is the Denver Police Department announced it is investigating an incident from last the week that was caught on video. By signing this petition, you are demanding that the Denver Police Department holds every one of the officers in this video responsible.

We request the following actions to be taken immediately:

  1. Immediate Removal of All the Police Officers in the Video and Revoke their Certifications as Law Enforcement Officer
  2. Publicly Identify the Officers Involved in the Incident

We are not going to let Denver PD give those officers a slap on the wrist this time. We demand that those officers be reprimanded with termination immediately due to abusing their power to hurt the very citizens they are meant to protect.

Other Action Steps You Can Take:

  1. Call Denver's Police Department Non-emergency Line - To file a police report, please call the non-emergency line at 720-913-2000.
