Demand CPS and Family Court Acknowledge Parental Alienation as Abuse

The Issue

I have been dealing with the harrowing ordeal of a divorce process in Sacramento, California, for unending 15 years. My personal experience demands that the Child Protection Services (CPS) and the Family Court adopt a more empathetic approach towards cases involving parental alienation. Parental Alienation causes profound emotional trauma to children, and it should be classified and recognized as a form of abuse. CPS must make it mandatory to record round-table meetings with parents, promoting transparency and ensuring accuracy in the decisions made. On the same matter, the Family Court should legitimize Parental Alienation as a form of abuse, respecting the welfare of the child above any other factor. In addition, the court needs to re-evaluate its regulations and allow for a divorce completion if the opposing party fails to respond for an extended duration, preventing instances where the other party intentionally prolongs the proceeding, causing mental agony to both the spouse and the children. Actions such as these should hold legal consequences, with the offending parent found in contempt and required to pay damages for emotional injury caused to the child. It is critical to institute these reforms for protecting the well-being of children and ensuring a fair divorce process, an experience all too often laden with inefficiencies, emotional strain, and potential lasting psychological effects on children. These changes are not just necessary; they are a human duty that we owe to our children. Please sign this petition to uphold the rights of children and ensure they grow in a nurturing, secure environment.
