Demand consequences for racial slurs and harmful words
The Issue
I have seen the horrible history of racial behavior and discrimination, my hurt BURNS with anger and rage that is hard to make it stop because People of color (POC) were enslaved, slaughtered, and seen NOT ONLY less than human but MANY were made into mere objects, stripped of their dignity and identity. And thing is, slavery still happens in our life and society, maybe not in front of us but it does and we do nothing, there was words that were used to dehumanize, degrade, and oppress people of color!! AND people still use them, some with harmful intent some to be “funny” it’s NOT funny, it’s cruel, it’s horrid, and disgusting. I’m disgusted by everyone who says that word no matter the intent, the intention doesn’t matter because that word is not something to throw around, people still get called that and still hurt hurt by that, NOBODY should be saying it because it was a word used to tell people who were different then us that “hey you aren’t like us so you are less important, you don’t matter, in fact you better kneel to my feet work for me and do all my work because you are less than and non important” THATS WHAT THEY THOUGHT WHEN THEY USED THOES WORDS. it not only impacted generations of individuals across all races and ethnicities, it impacted people who still are long gone and was probably thinking they were less then us because that’s what they was taught from the day they was born, they thought and some tried to escape it but most couldn’t. And right now, We are not just talking about the past, this is a reality most POC and non POC face every day.
Words carry HUGE power, and that power should be held responsibly. For toddlers and teens, we tell the, how words can hurt, how they have weight and consequence. Why should it be any different for adults? Words have meanings, and meanings shape actions. Just because one is older or looks different, doesn't make it acceptable to hurl racial slurs or any damaging rhetoric that perpetuates harm. Such words should 100% bear consequences, affecting everyone who SPEAKS them without understanding the historical pain they carry. Their words hurt the people from the past and the future, and mostly the present, Everytime I hear a racial insult I think of the POC from the slavery years and I think about every cry, every lash they got, every word they got told, and every beaten they got, and they didn’t deserve it and nobody here deserves it now.
Our society needs a change. We need a cultural shift in how we think about and address issues related to skin color, ethnicity, and racial identity. Let's foster an environment where language promotes inclusion and respect. This is not just about political correctness or sensitivity; it's about human dignity and equality.
Now our goal is clear: to hold everyone accountable for the words they choose to speak. Creating awareness and cultivating empathy should be at the forefront of this movement. Engaging educational institutions, workplaces, and communities to educate and reevaluate acceptable language will be vital steps forward. Legal consequences should be considered for language that falls into the category of hate speech or racial slurs. Community-led initiatives can provide support and understanding to help those often targeted by such language.
I BEG you to join me in this fight against harmful words. Let's stand united, strong, and unwavering against language that offends, divides, and oppresses. This effort concerns us all, every race, every human being, regardless of skin color or background. Together, let's demand a world where words uplift, rather than dehumanize the cultures and communities. Stand up for a future where our differences are celebrated and our common humanity is recognized.
Please sign this petition, and help us create a world where everyone's voice is respected and heard, where change is not just a desire but a reality. Together, we can make a formidable difference.
