A Call for Courageous Leadership in Congress

We, the undersigned constituents and citizens of the United States, hereby call upon our elected representatives in Congress to fulfill their oath to the Constitution and their duty to the American people. This petition specifically addresses the concerning pattern of acquiescence to power at the expense of principled leadership.

WHEREAS:

Our elected representatives have been entrusted with the responsibility to serve as a check on executive power, many representatives, including Rep. Sheri Biggs, have maintained silence in the face of actions and statements that undermine democratic norms.

- Representatives have shown reluctance to publicly challenge problematic policies and statements from Donald Trump, DOGE, and Elon Musk.
- Representatives owe their constituents transparency, accessibility, regardless of party affiliation
- Our democratic institutions were designed to withstand attempts to weaken them, but these times require elected officials to uphold their constitutional duties.

THEREFORE:

We, the undersigned citizens, formally petition our congressional representatives to:

- Hold In-Person Town Halls with constituents across the political spectrum to directly address concerns and answer questions
- Take Public Stands on matters of national importance, even when doing so requires courage to stand apart from party leadership
- Provide Clear Public Statements on positions regarding policies proposed by Donald Trump, DOGE, Elon Musk, and other powerful entities that impact our communities
- Demonstrate Independence in voting and policy positions based on constituent needs rather than party loyalty or donor influence
- Uphold Constitutional Duties to provide checks and balances, regardless of which party controls the executive branch
- Make Themselves Accessible to all constituents, not just donors or political supporters
- We sign this petition as a reminder that, as citizens, we hold power in numbers and votes. We ask not for partisan loyalty but for courage in leadership—the courage to stand up and the courage to stand apart when principles and the well-being of constituents demand it.

Let us remind them that their primary responsibility is to represent us, the people who elected them into office, not personal or political interests.
