The Issue

I am a relative of one of the many affected residents of St. Lucy Parish, and therefore, I am compelled to act on their behalf, to raise this critical matter.

Many of us bear the burden of discolored water that is unfit for usage, yet we still face hefty water bills from the Barbados Water Authority, and still find it necessary to make additional purchases of clean drinking and cooking water. The added financial strain faced by households in these trying times is unduly harsh.

This collective problem resonates deeply with every resident and it is our shared displeasure that fuels this call for immediate action. The alarmingly consistent issue of discolored water is not just disconcerting but poses a significant health risk that must not be overlooked.

Therefore, I call on the Barbados Water Authority and the Government to urgently address this ongoing issue. A viable, long-term solution must be sought to eliminate these persistent interruptions to our water supply. Furthermore, compensation for this distress and inconvenience must also be considered. As taxpayers, we deserve a continuous supply of clean and safe water.

Remember, water is life, and the residents of St. Lucy deserve a life free from the pressures of having to live with a poor supply. Join us in humbly urging the Barbados Water Authority and our government to take immediate action. This plight is more than an inconvenience; it is a basic human right. We seek not just for ourselves but for every member of our community, especially the voiceless among us.

I appeal to you, as residents of St. Lucy, as Barbadians, and as global citizens who believe in the fundamental right to clean water. Please sign this petition and stand with us in our fight for clean water.
