Demand Closure of Fontana Schools Due to Poor Air Quality from Line Fire

The Issue

As concerned parents in Fontana, CA, we are raising our voices against the continuing operation of schools amidst the serious threat of the Line Fire. Our children, who are amongst the most vulnerable to the physical effects of the poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke, are repeatedly exposed to these dangerous conditions. Among them are my own children, whose young lungs are at risk due to the poor air quality caused by the Line Fire.

Scientific studies affirm that exposure to such conditions could lead to both immediate and long-term health concerns, including asthma and other respiratory diseases. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, even short-term exposure to particle pollution in the air can severely affect individuals with existing heart or lung diseases, elderly people, and young children.

As such, we urge the school district and local authorities to prioritize the health of our children and temporarily close the schools until the air quality improves to a safe level. Your signature can aid in compelling the decision-makers to put our children's health first. Please, sign and share this petition.
