Rape is the most repugnant crime, one that infringes on the human rights and dignity of the victim. The women, who are the pillar of our society, are left terrified and mutilated. As a victim, every rape offense is the rarest of the rare crime and should be met with capital punishment to set a powerful deterring example.

Regretfully, as a society, we have failed in noticeably providing basic security to our women. We express deep shame regarding the current situation and demand urgent change. Rape in India needs to be addressed seriously and effectively, not just by the enactment of stricter laws, but also by their swift enforcement.

In 2019, the National Crime Records Bureau reported an alarming 88 rape cases every day in India (source: NCRB). Such statistics lay bare the urgent need for reform. We, therefore, ask for a law that will ensure capital punishment for rape offenses in India. Additionally, every rape case should be on a fast track for trial and sentencing, finished within 90 days of the crime.
