Demand Calgary Zoo Send Remaining Giraffes to Conservation Facility
The Issue
The loss of the majestic giraffe Emara is devastating.
Emara celebrated her 12th birthday on May 18th, 2023. The following day she was found dead. She was killed by breaking her neck after getting her ossciones caught in cables in her enclosure. The Calgary Zoo's track record of animal deaths caused by negligence has been far too frequent. Please sign this petition if you believe that the 2 remaining giraffes should be transferred to a giraffe sanctuary conservation site in their native land at the expense of the zoo. Transferring the giraffes to a spacious natural environment that is protected from poachers and predators will ensure that they will be able to live their lives in safety without the stress of an unnatural environment.
