The Issue

My son is set to attempt the BITSAT exam, a critical step in his academic journey. He's been assigned phase 1 in Harohalli and phase 2 in Mysore, something that seems unreasonable for a Bengaluru resident. This is not just about a minor inconvenience; it's about the unnecessary stress and logistical challenges that could affect his performance on such an important exam.

Imagine the pressure of traveling long distances right before an exam that can influence your future. Harohalli is located almost 45 kilometers away, which entails hours of travel through the unpredictable traffic of Bengaluru. Mysore, on the other hand, is approximately 150 kilometers away, making it not just a long journey, but potentially requiring overnight accommodation and extra costs that many families might struggle to bear.

The primary aim of BITSAT is to test the knowledge and aptitude of students, not their ability to commute. The recent change in BITSAT test centers has placed the students and their families under unnecessary stress. Previous years saw these exams conducted conveniently within Bengaluru, a hub of educational excellence and infrastructure.

By relocating the test centers outside, it's not only affecting logistical arrangements but also alienating students from the environment they are accustomed to. Bengaluru students deserve to have their test centers back in the city as a fair chance to perform at their best.

We are urging BITS Pilani to reconsider and reestablish BITSAT test centers within Bengaluru for its residents. This change will ensure that students can focus on their studies rather than the hurdles of distance and travel logistics. Please join us in calling for this much-needed change.

Sign this petition to demand that BITSAT centers be brought back into Bengaluru city. Let's ensure our students aren't tested on their endurance for travel but on their aptitude and skills.
