Demand Barbour County, Alabama Animal Control to Address Animal Neglect

The Issue

As a resident of Clio, Alabama and a proud parent of two rescue dogs, I am deeply disturbed by the neglect of animals in our community. This winter season has been particularly harsh for our four-legged friends who are left outside in freezing conditions day and night. Dogs are confined within enclosures or fences without any respite from the cold weather.

Additionally, dogs are confined outdoors in small spaces; not allowing the animal sufficient exercise.

Furthermore, many dogs are allowed to roam freely around the neighborhood without any supervision. This not only leads to uncontrolled breeding with strays but also poses safety risks for both the animals and residents alike.

Barbour County's Animal Control needs to take immediate action on these pressing issues. The current situation is unacceptable and goes against basic animal welfare principles.

According to American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), exposure to winter’s dry, cold air and chilly rain can cause chapped paws and itchy skin for pets while serious health conditions such as hypothermia can occur if precautions aren't taken (AVMA). Moreover, free-roaming dogs contribute significantly towards overpopulation issue which results in millions of healthy dogs being euthanized each year across America (Humane Society).

We call upon Barbour County's Animal Control department to respond promptly to citizens' concerns about animal neglect in our community. We demand stricter enforcement of laws pertaining to pet ownership including adequate sheltering during extreme weather conditions and responsible management of pets.

We request not to be ignored when calling local officials including; Animal Control, the Mayor, governor etc.) regarding our concerns

Please sign this petition if you believe that every animal deserves a safe environment where they can thrive without fear or discomfort.
