I know all about the first amendment.

Free speech rights however, should not be used and an excuse to cover up hate speech. When an authority figure uses a popular platform to spread misinformation about an entire ethnic group it is a very serious matter. Add the brand value of  a) Sitcom characters, and b)A network as widely popular and prevalent as Fox, and what do you get?

I will tell you what I got. Disbelief that no one had already protested this vile act of verbal onslaught directed against a demographic that has done nothing to deserve this. Astonishment, that it was somehow up to me!

Current events may lean towards the normalization of this very act of excusing any damn thing as “Free Speech” or “Freedom of Expression”.

Don’t let that happen.

Freedom of Expression is not really a vague concept. In this instance, there has indeed been a gross act of abuse of that freedom. There is a big difference between these two sentences, thanks to the way they begin - “This is…” and “I think this is…”

The writers and produces of New Girl must learn that lesson the hard way.
