“Given the interdisciplinary character of AP African American Studies… developing historical, literary, visual, and data analysis skills…..AP courses are designed to include the content and skills most frequently taught in introductory college courses, so that students who demonstrate mastery on the AP Exam can be placed into upper-division college courses with a strong foundation for success” (What WIll Students Experience in AP African American Studies, How We Developed AP African American Studies, About AP African American Studies). Oakdale High School doesn’t offer Black & African American Studies as an AP class, which is disappointing. As of recently, 9.6% of Oakdale High School students identify as Black.
