Incidences of child sexual exploitation by organised groups continue to plague the UK, a fact that needs increased government attention. Data from the Office for National Statistics indicates that in the year ending March 2019 in England and Wales, there were over 73,260 recorded child sexual abuse offences, a distressing rise in such incidences. It is paramount that more effort be applied to tackle these abhorrent crimes. We demand that the government initiates an official enquiry into these exploitation gangs to understand their networks and to implement more effective preventative measures. This enquiry should lead to stronger legislations, more resources for law enforcement, and improved support for victims. Protecting our children should be a national priority.
