Demand an Investigation into Pesma za Evroviziju 2025 Voting Scandal
The Issue
To: Radio Television of Serbia (RTS)
We, the undersigned, are calling for an immediate review of the SMS voting results from the first semi-final and final of Pesma za Evroviziju 2025. The integrity of Serbia’s national selection for Eurovision is at stake, and the discrepancies in the voting results must be addressed to maintain trust in the competition.
Until a thorough investigation is conducted, the current results should be put on hold, and Princ’s victory should not be finalized.
Unexplained SMS Vote Discrepancy
In the first semi-final, BojanaxDavid secured approximately 2,000 more SMS votes than Harem Girls, a fan favorite that dominated social media discussions and trended #1 in Serbia for five consecutive days leading up to the final. This voting margin was unexpected, yet what followed in the final was even more concerning.
Despite receiving little to no public anticipation, hype, or industry support, BojanaxDavid garnered approximately 33,000 SMS votes, a stark contrast to Harem Girls, who received about 15,000 votes. This is an extreme difference that demands investigation. Notably, the professional jury did not award BojanaxDavid any points, leading them to finish last in the final ranking. The inconsistency between the jury’s assessment and the alleged "public support" suggests the possibility of vote manipulation or technical errors in the SMS voting system.
The Impact on the Final Results
The current results of Pesma za Evroviziju 2025 stand as follows:
Princ (Winner) – 18 points (jury 12, public 6)
Harem Girls (Second Place) – 17 points (jury 7, public 10)
BojanaxDavid (Last Place) – No jury points (0), yet 33,000 public votes (12 points)
Had the SMS results been accurate and free of irregularities, Harem Girls—who were the clear fan favorite—would have likely received the 12 public points instead of BojanaxDavid, bringing their total to 19 points, which would have made them the rightful winners of the contest.
——Call for Action——
We demand that RTS:
- Conduct an independent audit of the SMS voting system to verify the legitimacy of the results.
- Publicly disclose the methodology used to count SMS votes and detect irregularities.
- Investigate possible vote manipulation and take corrective action if needed.
- Ensure transparency in future voting processes to prevent similar controversies.
- Pause the final confirmation of Princ’s victory until the investigation is completed and the legitimacy of the results is confirmed.
While we recognize the jury's preference for Princ, that aspect is irrelevant to this petition. The key issue is the highly questionable public voting results that significantly impacted the final rankings. If an error or manipulation occurred, it must be corrected to uphold fairness in Serbia’s Eurovision selection process.
We urge RTS to take these concerns seriously and address the issue transparently to restore public trust in Pesma za Evroviziju 2025.
Sincerely,
The PZE25 viewers, enjoyers, voters, & supporters of the contest.
