The Issue

Dogs that are constantly tethered experience a life filled with loneliness and boredom. These conditions often lead to health problems that go unnoticed by their owners due to a lack of interaction. Such dogs endure harsh weather conditions, both heat and cold, without the comfort of companionship or the opportunity to engage in play with toys or other dogs. Isolated from their families, they are left vulnerable and defenseless. They face the risk of being attacked by other animals, injuring themselves, or becoming aggressive, which can pose a danger to the community.

The cities of West Point, Grantville, and Lagrange prohibit unsupervised tethering. Therefore, it raises the question of why tethering is permitted in Hogansville without supervision. The leaders of Hogansville must address this issue and communicate to the public why dogs are being allowed to be restrained using trolley systems. The manufacturer explicitly states that these trolleys are not intended for permanent restraint or for leaving a dog unsupervised. Allowing such practices poses a risk to public safety.

If you believe that dogs should not be subjected to a life of perpetual tethering.

Please reach out to the mayor and council to express your support for banning unsupervised tethering.
