We, the weary residents of Freeport, Grand Bahama, have endured long enough. Our plea is to seek critical changes to our present situation by demanding alterations to the current Hawksbill Creek Agreement or allowing a new alternative company to provide us with electricity. For years, we have been victim to excessive tariffs, experiencing hikes as high as 70% in our monthly bills (source: Local Utility Analysis). This is not sustainable for the average household. Residents deserve a cost-effective, transparent, and efficient power supply. With the support of our community, we can place the power back in our hands. We call upon the Government of the Bahamas and the Grand Bahama Port Authority to reassess the Hawksbill Creek Agreement, carefully considering our rights as consumers, and potentially endorsing an alternative provider.
