Demand action to enforce renters’ rights in San Antonio and beyond.

The Issue

For the residents of San Antonio living conditions have become intolerable. We have been subjected to neglect and inhumane environments, raising major concerns for both our physical health and our human dignity. Our numerous complaints have been ignored, and in the process, our confidence in our housing management has been irreparably damaged. Renters have faced situations such as leaking roofs, mold infestations, inconsistent water supply, and vermin invasions. These conditions are not only uncomfortable but also pose serious health risks, particularly to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people with pre-existing health conditions. Housing is a fundamental human right, and the continuous failure the Management to maintain basic habitability standards represents a blatant disregard for renters’ rights. In accordance with local housing laws and the constitutional rights guaranteed to every citizen, landlords are obligated to provide safe and livable environments. Tenants should not live in fear of repercussions or eviction for seeking to uphold these rights. We call on the local government and housing authorities to take prompt action against the Management Company. A complete investigation into their practices should be launched, ensuring that all properties comply with the building codes and health and safety standards mandated by law. It is imperative to enforce substantive penalties on companies that consistently fail their tenants. Furthermore, resources should be allocated to establish an independent renter's advocacy organization that can assist tenants in navigating legal processes and can provide support where renters feel powerless. By signing this petition, you are supporting the call for stronger enforcement of renters' rights, and demanding that the Management and similar entities be held accountable for their neglect. Join us in our quest for dignity, safety, and justice for all humans residing anywhere.
