The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and community members of Britannia Village, refuse to live in fear.

For years, our neighborhood has been targeted by relentless property crimes, vehicle break-ins, and brazen burglaries affecting beloved local establishments. This crisis has drastically escalated from property theft to terrifying personal intimidation and safety risks—including recent incidents where local shops were publicly reported broken into at 4:00 AM, and the suspect returned wearing a gas mask and all-black clothing to confront opening staff face-to-face under false pretexts.

Despite clear security footage, community-led identification of the suspect (Charlie Lough), multiple formal police reports, and direct threats to workers, the community is met with systemic inaction and a revolving door.

The current situation is an imminent threat to our physical safety, mental well-being, and the survival of our local small businesses. We will no longer accept a passive bystander response from authorities while our community bears the brunt of unchecked repeat offenses.

We demand immediate action:

Targeted Offender Management & Relocation: Concrete steps by the justice system and police to remove and relocate repeat offender Charlie Lough away from the Britannia Village area to ensure community safety.

Emergency Town Hall: An urgent public meeting called by City Councillor Riley Brockington and Ottawa Police Service leadership to address why clear video evidence and multiple reports have yielded zero effective protection.

Active Neighborhood Resource Patrols: Dedicated, visible police presence in Britannia Village to safeguard residents and local small businesses.

Our village deserves to feel safe in our homes, walking our streets, and opening our shops. Stand with us to demand accountability.
