These videos not only mock and belittle our revered Sikh Gurus and sacred Gurdwaras but also include outright threats against our community members. This content not only spreads misinformation but also fuels hatred and intolerance.

Sikhism is a religion founded on the principles of peace, empathy, and equality for every human being. Our Gurus teach us to rise above hatred and violence, but when confronted with such blatant disrespect and threats, action becomes necessary to safeguard our community and our beliefs.

The Sikh community worldwide, particularly in areas like Canada, the UK, and India, where large diaspora communities reside, has been targeted. Many members of our community have reported feeling unsafe and marginalized due to this systematic harassment on online platforms. It is imperative we act now to prevent further escalation and to protect our cultural heritage and traditions.

We call upon TikTok to immediately implement stricter guidelines and monitoring procedures for identifying and removing hateful content targeting any religious or ethnic group. TikTok must also work actively to collaborate with community representatives to ensure cultural and religious sensitivity in its content moderation process.

The social media giant has a responsibility to foster an inclusive digital environment and must be proactive in taking down harmful content, holding accountable those users who propagate hatred and fear, and implementing effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
