Demand Accountability: Remove Offenders Joseph & Melissa McDaniel from TikTok
The Issue
Petition to the Commonwealth of Virginia: Remove Online Access & Streaming Privileges from Registered Sex Offender Joseph McDaniel and Melissa McDaniel, Previously Charged with Child Endangerment
We, the undersigned, are calling on the Commonwealth of Virginia to investigate and take action regarding Joseph McDaniel (Virginia Sex Offender Registry #106517) and his wife, Melissa McDaniel, who have gained a presence and following on the social media platform TikTok under multiple accounts.
Joseph McDaniel is a registered sex offender in Virginia, and Melissa McDaniel has a prior charge of child endangerment (2012). Despite these serious offenses, both individuals currently host and participate in livestreams, interact with minors, and profit from a platform heavily populated by underage users. They regularly broadcast together under the following account names:
Joseph McDaniel: @ono_not_today_satan, @rgn_willis
Melissa McDaniel: @yourfavbishmissy, @raggedybishmiss, @melissaanne2222, @guidelinequeenn
Not only are they actively creating content, but they have also publicly acknowledged Joseph’s registered status on livestreams — often in a joking, dismissive, or defiant tone — while continuing to gain visibility and monetary support through the app.
We believe this behavior poses a direct threat to public safety, especially to children and vulnerable individuals online. It is unacceptable that a convicted sex offender is allowed to build a platform and engage with minors in any capacity, particularly while accompanied by an individual with a documented history of endangering children.
We are petitioning the State of Virginia to:
Review and restrict online activities for Joseph McDaniel, including livestreaming and monetized engagement on apps such as TikTok.
Evaluate Melissa McDaniel’s involvement and her enabling of this public presence despite her own history of child endangerment.
Enforce stricter monitoring and enforcement of online activity for convicted sex offenders and individuals with child-related criminal histories.
The safety of children and the accountability of offenders must remain a top priority. We urge state officials to take swift action and set a precedent that public platforms cannot be used to normalize or trivialize serious offenses against children.
Signed,
Concerned citizens and advocates for child safety
