Demand Accountability & Reform in Alberta's Child & Family Services

Demand Accountability & Reform in Alberta's Child & Family Services
The Issue
Across Alberta, families are speaking out about the harm caused by Alberta’s Child & Family Services (CFS) system. Many who turn to CFS seeking help instead face fear, confusion, and a lack of transparency.
Numerous families—especially Indigenous and racialized communities—have experienced wrongful intervention, systemic discrimination, and poor oversight. These issues are deeply rooted and continue to affect the well-being of children and their families across the province.
We Demand:
✅ An Independent Investigation into concerns of systemic failures, lack of oversight, and patterns of harm experienced by families engaged with CFS.
✅ Transparency & Accountability to ensure that CFS workers uphold ethical and respectful practices.
✅ Fair & Just Processes that rely on factual evidence, protect family integrity, and prioritize the well-being of children.
✅ Stronger Oversight & Legislative Reform to ensure child intervention services are truly serving the best interests of all Albertans.
Why This Matters:
Families deserve a fair process. There must be unbiased systems in place to review concerns about CFS decisions and conduct.
Indigenous and racialized families are overrepresented in child intervention cases and face disproportionate impacts. This must be addressed.
Children suffer long-term harm from unnecessary or mismanaged family separation. Accountability and reform are essential.
Take Action!
The Alberta government has a responsibility to ensure child welfare systems are fair, accountable, and protective—not harmful. Please sign and share this petition to demand change.
