The Issue

On Wednesday, September 24, a new 6th grader with a history of behavior issues, who had been verbally bullying my son since the start of the school year, approached my son during recess, coerced another 6th grader into holding my son’s arms behind his back, and then forced him to lick a ball and the ground. They then went over to another 6th grader, pulled him out of his group of friends, held his arms behind his back, and hit him. This all happened in the middle of the school yard over 4 minutes. This act of humiliation and aggression could have been prevented had the the adults who were supposed to be supervising were paying attention. Instead they stood by and did nothing. This is blatant negligence.

Among other concerns, this raises immediate and seriously troubling concerns about the competence of our lunch monitors.

We demand immediate action from Mrs. Tracy, the school principal, to address this significant breach of trust and protection. Those charged with the supervision of students during recess must be held accountable for their negligence and failure to act.

By signing this petition, we urge Mrs. Tracy to fire the lunch monitors who allowed such a degrading incident to occur.
