Over 200 handwritten Post-it notes covered a break room cabinet at Utah Tech University—many featuring sexual, crude, and discriminatory remarks allegedly made by staff, including a vice president of the school. Some were graphic. Some were racist. All were inappropriate.

Those notes were left up for years, in plain sight of staff and student interns. Not only were they tolerated—they were moved office to office, like a running joke.

Now, three employees—including the university’s Title IX coordinator and top attorneys—are suing the school, saying they were retaliated against for trying to stop it. They say they were punished for doing their jobs. And the university? It tried to seal the evidence and silence them.

Thanks to a federal judge, the full exhibit has been unsealed. The public can now see what was written—and it is disturbing. This is a publicly funded school. There must be accountability.

We’re calling on Utah Tech’s board, the Utah Board of Higher Education, and state legislators to immediately investigate and take action. That includes independent oversight, personnel review, and new safeguards to protect students and staff from hostile workplaces and retaliation.

Utah Tech is a public institution. It should be a place of learning and safety—not a place where obscene and discriminatory comments are normalized for years.
