The communities affected by the deaths of Tony Robinson and Corey Ruiz deserve a full, independent, and transparent investigation into the actions of the officers involved. When there is credible evidence that an officer has violated the law, that officer should be held to the same legal standard as every other member of society.

If investigators determine that criminal laws were broken, the responsible officers should face prosecution and, if convicted in court, the appropriate penalties, including imprisonment. No one should be above the law because they wear a badge.
