It's deeply disturbing that a racist spectacle took place during an Annual Halloween parade, wherein a person in costume of Vice President Kamala Harris was represented being drug in chains by a golf cart with a gun mounted on the roof. This vulgar display is an assault on our country's democratic foundations and belittles the office of the Vice President. Such acts feed into mass hate and bigotry, further promoting racial discrimination, hostility, and violence. The ADL reports that 61% of all hate crimes in the U.S. in 2018 were based on race/ethnicity/ancestry bias, with African-Americans being the most targeted group. This isn't about political views, it's about human dignity and respect - which every citizen deserves. We demand a full inquiry into this incident, with those responsible held accountable for their actions.
