Demand Accountability for Poor Quality of Local Drinking Water

The Issue

I, like many other residents, pay for clean water. Yet, our daily reality is a stark contrast to what we expect and pay for; my bath water often comes out BROWN! Our local drinking water is foul and it’s causing numerous health problems. We are forced to buy expensive bottled water, when we should have access to safe, clean water from our local sources.

Water is a basic human right, and local officials responsible for monitoring and maintaining water quality seem to be failing us. According to the Environmental Working Group, between 2010 and 2015, almost 80,000 violations of drinking water standards were reported in U.S. community water systems (source: NRDC). This is a clear indication of the scale of this persistent issue. Unfortunately for us, these aren’t just statistics; this is our daily life.

We demand transparency, accountability, and immediate action from our local officials. They must answer as to why the quality of our drinking water is so poor and take decisive steps to address the issue. If you, too, believe in our right to safe, clean water, please sign this petition! Your support could make a real difference and could save lives.
