I’ve had enough of the negligence and discrimination at St. Luke’s Hospital in South Milwaukee. Every visit feels like a battle for basic human respect and care, especially if you're black. I've experienced it personally and seen it happen too many times to others in our community. I spent 12 hours waiting from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. and left with nothing but frustration and ineffective treatment. And it's not just me. On another visit, I waited three or four hours, watching as others were prioritized over black patients. It's more than a pattern—it's blatant discrimination.

Why do we have to sit there, watching people of other races get treated while we wait indefinitely, our needs ignored? One man was there before everyone else and still was one of the last to be seen. This treatment is unacceptable and dangerous. No one should have to fight for attention when they’re in pain or worried about their health.

St. Luke’s needs to be held accountable for their actions, or rather, their lack of action. Accountability means enforcing policies that ensure no patient is neglected because of their race. It means proper training and oversight to guarantee everyone receives the care they deserve. It means listening, empathizing, and treating each person as a valued human being.

We demand that St. Luke's management take immediate steps to investigate these claims and implement changes that will prevent further neglect and discrimination. Empowering staff with appropriate training, revisiting care protocols, and increasing transparency are essential steps toward ensuring fair treatment for everyone.
