The Issue

Cinnamon, a beloved pet, was tragically and unlawfully euthanized under the oversight of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the shelter involved, Haven Pet Center. Initially, the shelter admitted that Cinnamon’s death was an unfortunate accident. However, following a police report, the narrative abruptly changed to label her as "aggressive"—an assertion contradictory to earlier explanations and highly suspicious.

This inconsistency not only raises questions about the shelter's integrity but deeply tarnishes public trust in the honesty and transparency of our local law enforcement and animal protection systems. Moreover, it highlights a broader issue of accountability within organizations that are supposed to protect, not harm, our treasured companions.

The shelter and the Sheriff's Department must be held accountable to prevent similar incidents from recurring. Therefore, we demand a thorough, independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Cinnamon’s untimely death and any potential cover-up that followed.

Evidence must be gathered from any shelter employees present, police reports, and investigation documentation to ensure transparency and justice. A revision of the current policies must be conducted to prevent future occurrences and to protect innocent animals from similar fates.

Through accountability and systemic change, we can make a difference in safeguarding the welfare of all animals in our community. Join us in seeking justice for Cinnamon, ensuring that no other pet has to suffer needless tragedy due to negligence or incompetence.

The incompetence of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department regarding the unlawful killing of Cinnamon is beyond comprehension. And all of this happened under the watch of Chad Bianco.

The day after Cinnamon was killed, the shelter admitted she was accidentally euthanized. That was the original explanation. An accident.

But once a police report was filed and a detective contacted the Haven Pet Center, the story suddenly changed. Now they claimed she was killed because she was “aggressive towards humans.”

So which was it?

Was Cinnamon accidentally killed?
Or was she intentionally killed for alleged aggression?

Because both cannot be true.

What makes this even more disturbing is the evidence the Sheriff’s Department chose to ignore.

Cinnamon was scheduled to be spayed.
Southern California Pit Bull Rescue called the shelter and confirmed her rescue hold.

Ninety-seven minutes later, Cinnamon was dead.

A dog that was supposedly so “aggressive” that she needed to be euthanized was somehow also:

• Being promoted on social media
• Being handled by volunteers
• Housed in an adoptable section of the shelter
• Scheduled for a spay appointment
• Cleared to be released to rescue

None of that makes sense.

There was no documented evidence showing Cinnamon was such a danger that she needed to be immediately killed. Yet the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department ignored the contradictions directly in front of them.

They ignored evidence from the shelter contradicting the aggression claim.
They ignored the rescue hold.
They ignored that the Hayden Act protects animals with rescue commitments from being euthanized.
They ignored evidence suggesting records were altered after Cinnamon’s death.

Even worse, despite evidence the shelter provided conflicting and false statements during the investigation, the Sheriff’s Department refused to pursue prosecution because they claimed the employees were “not under oath.”

Being under oath is not an element of the crime. How does the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department not know that?

This is not a competent investigation.

This is a failure to protect the voiceless and a failure of leadership under Chad Bianco.

Cinnamon should be alive today.

Justice for Cinnamon.
