Demand Accountability for Animal Cruelty Incident in Feltham, West London

The Issue

As someone who has always revered animals for their innocence, the day I witnessed a distressing scene of violence against a creature unable to protect itself will forever remain etched in my memory.
A loose cow, frightened but harmless, was subjected to a cruel treatment at the hands of the local police force in Feltham, London. This is not just a case of animal cruelty; it's a gross misuse of power and authority that goes against our shared values of compassion and respect for all life forms.

Animal cruelty should not be tolerated, especially when inflicted by the very individuals we trust to uphold the law, and protect us – including our animals. The lack of proper enforcement (in compliance with the The Animal Welfare Act 2006) and accountability in such cases results in a 27% increase in the number of animal cruelty incidents every year. It’s alarming to take note of the statistics from RSPCA, reporting a number of 63,563 complaints of alleged cruelty investigated across the UK (source: RSPCA annual report, 2022). These figures do not include cases of misconduct involving the police. More cases of brutality against animals are coming to light through the help of British social media, but that’s not all we can do.

The time has come to right this wrong. We call on the appropriate governmental and policing bodies to require all members involved in this event to be held accountable. It’s the only way to prevent such incidents from ever happening in the future.
