Demand Accountability for Acts of Bullying

The Issue

Myself, like too many other people, suffered greatly from unjust acts of bullying and developed PTSD as a result. This is not an isolated issue, but a pervasive problem that haunts many people across our nation. According to The National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), in 2019, approximately 20% of students aged 12-18 reported being bullied at school during the school year.

So many teens are committing suicide a year due to bullying. It's not taken seriously enough by schools and usually signs of bullying, depression, and suicidal thoughts are often grazed. We need schools to do something more about it because we can't keep losing people to bullying. We need justice for the people who have committed suicide.

While many schools have anti-bullying policies in place, their enforcement often falls short. Bullying causes significant emotional and psychological harm, leaving victims like myself, to live with the aftermath while the perpetrators face minimal-to-no repercussions.

We believe that it's time for accountability. We demand stronger enforcement of anti-bullying policies in schools, and we call for penalties that genuinely reflect the severity of the actions taken by bullies. Our mental health must be protected, and our tormentors must face more than a mere slap on the wrist.

We deserve to learn in a safe and welcoming environment, free from the fear and trauma of bullying. Join us in this fight. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that those responsible for bullying are held accountable for their actions. Please sign and share this petition.

“Bullying remains a pervasive issue in both schools and workplaces, with significant statistical evidence highlighting its widespread impact. According to recent studies, approximately 20% of students in the U.S. experience bullying, whether physical, verbal, or relational. This percentage varies by region and demographic, but the issue is notably prevalent across diverse populations. The National Center for Educational Statistics reports that about 15% of high school students have been electronically bullied, which underscores the growing role of digital platforms in perpetuating harassment. In workplaces, around 30% of employees have reported being bullied, with a considerable portion of these cases involving psychological harassment rather than physical violence. Victims of bullying often suffer long-term consequences, including increased risks of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. The effects of bullying extend beyond the individual, affecting overall workplace morale and school climate. Addressing bullying requires comprehensive strategies, including education, intervention programs, and supportive environments to mitigate its impact and foster a culture of respect and safety.”
